Basic Training I: Sex Work & the Law

April 1, 2022
Psychologist pointing out the sex work law reform in New Zealand and Netherlands.

In this two-hour workshop, I provide an overview of the legal framework, including the federal laws and municipal by-laws, that regulates sex work in Canada. Providing case examples, I highlight how an understanding of this framework is instrumental to providing culturally competent mental health services to sex workers. This workshop introduces the systemic interventions necessary to working with this population, challenging anti-sex work narratives that view all sex workers as women, and as victims of violence.

This workshop is approved by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) for Continuing Education Credits.
